He's A Real-Life Superhero, And It's Not Just Because Of His Outfit

Mar 19, 2015

A young man in Birmingham, U.K. has recently made the news for being a local hero.

With homelessness and hunger being issues he saw every day on the streets of his beloved city, he decided he was going to take action. His method, however, is definitely unusual, but it is helping draw a lot of attention to an important issue.

He goes out at night dressed as Spider-Man.

Instead of web-shooters and wisecracks, this Spidey is equipped with sandwiches for the homeless.

He's part of a larger movement to fight hunger in the city of Birmingham.

He's become a local celebrity, which is why he wears the outfit and keeps a secret identity: he wants attention focused on homelessness, not on him.

On the flipside, the celebrity status helps him spread awareness through radio and media appearances.

He also uses social media accounts to post selfies with a little more substance.

Thanks to these efforts, more people are becoming aware of the plight of the homeless in their city.

We may never find out the secret identity of the Birmingham Spider-Man, but we know he'll continue to do great things.

Although he doesn't accept any money donations, he encourages everyone who sees this to go out and do something to combat homelessness in their own towns. Unfortunately, hunger and homelessness are global issues, not just localized to any one city or country. It's up to all of us to do something - anything - to help.
