Hilarious DIY Projects That Should Probably Have Been Left To The Pros

DIY can be a bit challenging at times. After all, we all have limits to our technical skills. Even top interior designers can't do electrical wiring, plumbing, woodwork, etc. all by themselves and have to call in other professionals to help.

It is important to acknowledge our limits and seek that help when we need it or otherwise, you get what we have here today.

We'd like to share some of the worst DIY projects in history with you. Firstly, so that you can get a bit of a laugh today and enjoy some happiness, and secondly so that you can avoid making similar mistakes.

1. The Extension Cord Of Doom

Reddit

It takes a special someone to decide that it's better to risk burning their house down than to shell out a few bucks for a safety power extension cord.

2. The Car Caravan

Reddit

Who needs an RV when you have a welding torch and some cutting tools? Not this guy who is too cool for school on the road.

3. Dad Ruins Children's Dream

Reddit

Sure, there are dads out there that can build an amazing tree house and there are others that need help. We think this dad might want to try psychological help first.

4. Music To Nobody's Eyes

Reddit

You don't need to hire an interior decorator, but surely there's a moment when you take a look at this and think, "maybe I should hire one?"

5. The Worst Bodywork In The World

Reddit

The finishing touch to this appalling spray job is the fact that they spray painted the tires gold too. All that gold and it still says "dollar store."

6. The Leaky Lavatory

Reddit

It's true, plumbers are expensive, but there's a time to swallow the costs and get that plumber out right now and this is that time.

7. When It's Time To Call An Electrician

Reddit

There are bad ideas and then there are terrible ideas and this is the latter. Not only would these be a dust trap of epic proportions, but they'd be dangerous as well.

8. The Patio Furniture Of Pain

Reddit

We can see how the owner feels proud of these creations, but wire mesh seats on old tires? It's really not most people's idea of a good time.

9. Water And Electricity Do Not Mix

Reddit

This defies belief and we strongly urge you not to do something like this at home. The risks of an electric shock here are beyond high.

10. Headlights That Aren't Road Legal

Reddit

We admire the urge to save a buck, we've all been there, but you can't do this to a vehicle and expect to remain on the road if the police see you.

11. What Happens When You Don't See The Light?

Imgur

This happens, apparently. Who'd have thought that a door needs room to swing and who would ever have thought that cutting a lump out of the door to let it swing past a lightbulb was a good idea? These people.

12. Water And Electricity Always Equals Fail

Reddit

When you decide to place a battery-operated device in the swimming pool, it's a good idea not to swim in the pool because of heart attacks.

13. Customizing Your Vehicle On A Budget

Reddit

You thought that your bike was going to look cool in that truck, but then you realized that it wouldn't fit. No problem, take a hacksaw to the truck.

14. There Were 10 Plastic Bottles Hanging As A Wall

Imgur

Well, much more than 10 plastic bottles, but you get the point. This is the homemade fence which must be designed to keep away pixies because it certainly wouldn't stop people.

15. It's Just In The Corner, No One Will Notice

Reddit

Sorry guys, but we beg to differ. This may be the sloppiest piece of DIY of them all -- they're not even trying to hide the fact that they just gave up.

16. The Proper Use Of A Single Cork Would Have Stopped This

Reddit

The only sensible place to put a cork here is in the paste gun used to attach the others to the wall. They've clearly not seen what happens when cork gets rubbed, gets wet, etc.

17. The Taco Bell Princess

Imgur

When your girlfriend thinks she needs to make her wedding dress out of burrito wrappers, you can't afford to get married yet. So don't.

18. When Two Become One, Sort Of

Reddit

If Homer Simpson had to design a vehicle, this is what we think it would look like. What these folks were thinking we'll never know, and for that we are truly grateful.

19. Should Have Stayed By The Sea Shore

Imgur

She spent $3 on seashells and took $3,000 off the value of her property in one fell swoop. It's time to take the glue away from this one.

20. Fake It 'Til You Make It

Imgur

Road safety? That's for suckers. What you really need when you drive around is to make fake indicator lights with plastic cups. That'll fool everyone until you want to turn right.

We hope that you enjoyed these DIY disasters and that your own DIY projects work out much, much better.
