Jono Lancaster has certainly taken what most would consider an overwhelming situation and made more than the best of it. By speaking out and raising awareness about his condition, he is paving the way for others suffering to gain more acceptance and get what they want from life. Treacher Collins syndrome, also called TCS, occurs in only one in 50,000 live births. There are several gene mutations that can result in TCS, all in genes that play a role in the development of facial bone and tissue. These mutations can happen randomly during fetal development or be passed down from an affected parent.
