Makeup Artist Transforms Into Epic Characters With Body Paint

Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year. The costumes, the makeup, the props – there's nothing quite like dressing up and pretending to be someone else for a while. The only problem? Most of us only get to do it once every 365 days. Unless, of course, you happen to be a professional makeup artist and cosplay guru like Kay Pike.

The 28-year-old Canadian only had one makeup lesson, but that was all it took to inspire her passion and talent. While we've seen other body painters, Kay's skills take things to a whole new level. By combining her knowledge of makeup, hairstyling, costumes, and comic books, Kay transforms herself into otherworldly characters. In fact, they're so real, it's a little spooky.

While cosplay has been a major cultural phenomenon in Japan since the early 1990s, they now have some serious competition here in the States. Social media has allowed fans to connect like never before, and major conventions, such as Comic-Con, have introduced the role-playing art to the masses. In the world of cosplay, women often take on male roles, and vice versa. There is no limit to what a person can do, save for their imagination.

Once you see Kay in all her glory, you might be inspired to start cosplaying yourself. What character would you dress up as first?

1. Here is what Kay Pike looks like on an ordinary day.

Although, when you are a makeup artist who specializes in body paint cosplay, those “ordinary” days can be few and far between!

2. Colossal Titan, Attack on Titan

Unbelievably, this epic creation was Kay's first. The level of detail is just extraordinary.

3. Lady Deadpool, alternate Marvel reality Earth-3010

While you definitely don't want to take your kids to see the new Deadpool movie (on Ryan Reynolds's own advice!), there's no denying that Kay nailed the look.

Uma Thurman would definitely approve.

5. Nebula, Guardians of the Galaxy

Nebula is the adopted daughter of Thanos, who we will see in just a minute …

6. Cheetara, The Thundercats

You know you're a child of the '80s if you love The Thundercats!

7. Thanos, Marvel supervillain

Thanos, Nebula's father, is a really, really, really bad guy. Although we've seen peeks of him in The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still developing.

8. Doctor Doom, archenemy of The Fantastic Four

It's hard to believe that Kay is under all that makeup. I seriously feel like I am face to face with Doctor Doom.

9. Captain Marvel, the Ms. Marvel series

We're crossing our fingers that Carol Danvers, the female counterpart to Captain Marvel, will get her own movie someday.

10. Captain Canuck, Canadian comic book hero

Being Canadian herself, she probably has a soft spot in her heart for this guy.

11. C3P-O, Star Wars

This one might be my favorite! She really makes everyone's favorite gold robot come alive.

12. Two-Face, Batman

Seriously, is there anything she can't do? Even Aaron Eckhart didn't look quite this good.
