Moving out on your own is something that is becoming increasingly difficult for those who have just joined the workforce. The rough economy and lack of job security have caused more and more young adults to opt to stay with their parents for a longer period of time. While only 10 percent of adults ages 25 to 34 used to live with their parents in the early 2000s, that number has risen by over 50 percent in the last 10 years.

Even for those that do move out, they often have to resort to a small apartment as a place to call home. The accommodations may not be ideal, but at least it's a roof over your head. Not satisfied with the cost of living in his city, Christian Schallert did something incredible with this 258-square-foot apartment.
