The Massed Bands Of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Put On A Great Show
The Massed Bands of Her Majesty's Royal Marines is an organization that dates back to 1903. It is the musical branch of the Royal Navy, consisting of five Royal Marines Bands in Scotland, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Fareham and Exmouth in the United Kingdom. It is currently the only branch of the Royal Marines that is open to female members.
The tradition of this musical branch of the Royal Marines evolved from bands formed among the British military, often using drums to keep the groups of men marching in unison. Drums played a big role in military history, used to regulate steps in training exercises, send messages across camps and signal the end of a watch shift on the battlefield. Here, the band uses their drums for a rather different purpose, leaving everyone in the crowd amazed.
