Mom Glues Down Brown Paper Bags To Create Gorgeous Flooring On A Budget

Craft paper isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you decide to renovate your floors — it's more common to opt for hardwood flooring, tiles, or carpets. However, if you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, take a trip to your local Home Depot and stock up on brown craft paper. Not only can it make your floors look great, but it can also be used for several other things such as wrapping gifts and sending packages through the mail.

Before adding craft paper to your floors, make sure you remove any existing flooring or carpet and check for objects that may prevent the paper from sticking to the floor's surface. You'll also need a mixture of all-purpose glue, polyurethane, and water to glue each paper bag to your floor. It's important to note that the water and glue mixture only works for wood floors, so make sure you adjust your mixture if you're attempting to renovate concrete floors.

Prepping the floors is the hard part. Once that's complete, all you have to do is glue each paper bag in your desired pattern. At this point, you might be thinking "Won't the paper bags rip if I walk on them?" The answer is no. When polyurethane dries up, it creates a leather-like surface that protects the craft paper underneath. This extra layer protects the floors from damage and also gives them a beautiful shine. While it might seem like a daunting project at first, the couple in the video below explains everything you need to do to make each step of the process as smooth as possible.
