College Coach Surprises Hard-Working Player With A Full Scholarship And His Teammates Go Nuts
James Montgomery III had been a walk-on at Northwestern University for two years, meaning he had all the responsibilities of a full-time athlete while still shouldering the full cost of school. Before the start of the 2013 season, Northwestern's coach Chris Collins decided it was finally time to reward James for all the hard work he had put in.
Montgomery took full advantage of the opportunity granted to him and finished four successful years of basketball at Northwestern while also graduating from the prestigious McCormick School of Engineering. The NCAA and college athletics tend to receive a lot of negative attention in the media, but as the story of James Montgomery shows it can also change a life for the better.
