American comedy legend Jerry Lewis has sadly passed away.
His agent confirmed that the 91-year-old entertainer died in his home sometime on Sunday morning. The cause of death is unverified, but a statement from Lewis' family, tweeted out by John Katsilometes indicated he died of natural causes.
Lewis was one of the greatest comedians of all time, best known for his slapstick routines. He hit the big time in 1946, when he teamed up with Dean Martin, eventually starring in such classic films as "The Nutty Professor" and "Damn Yankees."
For several decades, he was also the host of the "Muscular Dystrophy Telethon," which is held every Labor Day to raise money for a great cause. In 2009, Lewis was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
