Paddleboarders Get A Visit From A Herd Of Friendly Manatees
The most exciting thing most people expect when paddleboarding down a fairly calm river is the occasional tumble into the water. This boarding duo, however, got a huge surprise on their outing.
While these marine creatures can look a little scary due to their size, manatees are anything but. The mammals are overly docile, probably due to the fact that they have no natural predators or enemies. That doesn’t leave them without threats; however, the species, in fact, is facing extinction, with the population floating around 5,000. Unfortunately, the degradation of their natural habitat and frequent run-ins with boats both pose large threats to the animals.
