The devastation of Hurrican Harvey has affected people all across Texas. Thousands have been displaced from their homes, and authorities agree that we have yet to even know the full extent of the damages - the ripples of which will be felt for years to come.
Amidst all of this chaos and destruction, it's pretty easy to forget that it's not just people suffering right now. Natural disasters always result in a huge number of lost pets and other animals (farm cows, horses, etc.) who also need to be rescued from the flood.
Thankfully, the Humane Society of America has not forgotten about all of these animals, and are doing whatever it takes to help.
Rescuers have been working around the clock to find animals who were lost or left behind.
Using crates, boats, trucks, and whatever else they have at their disposal, they're making sure these animals aren't forgotten.
While it might be easy to condemn any pet owner who left an animal behind, it's important to remember that it's easy to lose track of important things in a crisis situation.
It's just lucky that the Humane Society stepped in to help. Hopefully many of these animals will be reunited with their families once things settle down.
