Powerful Short Film Shows What It's Like To Be An Unwanted Pet

Shock and horror don't adequately describe the reactions that most people would have to this dad's behavior. While the ending revealed a truth that isn't quite as terrible, it's still a situation that occurs all too often. According to the ASPCA, approximately 7.3 million pets are surrendered to animal shelters each year. While about two-thirds of those enter the shelter as strays, just under 2.5 million are relinquished. Unfortunately, a mere 37 percent of those pets are adopted by new owners. People most often cited moving and housing issues, having too many pets and cost when surrendering a dog or cat. While life is never predictable, making a responsible decision about adopting a pet is key before actually bringing a new companion home.
