At Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary in Herndon, Virginia, you're likely to see one of the cutest, most unlikely animal friendships you've ever seen. Sri Ram the puppy and Bernie the cow are virtually inseparable these days, and came together out of some pretty difficult circumstances.
Juliana Castañeda, founder of Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary, found four puppies alone in the woods and rescued them.
She was able to find forever homes for three of the pups, but one puppy, named Sri Ram, remained.
He was moved to be with the older dogs in the hopes that he'd bond with one of them. Sri Ram, however, took a shining to a cow instead...
Bernie the cow was rescued from a slaughterhouse, and it was love at first sight for him and Sri Ram.
It might be because they're both so young - both are under six months, or perhaps they simply sensed how much they each needed love.
Whatever the case may be, they're nigh inseparable at this point.
Even though they're different species, and there's a huge size difference between them, that doesn't seem to matter. They both think they're big dogs!
They also like spending time with other human and animal friends.
Bernie really thinks he's a puppy dog!
The best part? They're gonna grow old together at the sanctuary. They'll really be best friends for life.
They've also got plenty of other friends at the sanctuary, including Juliana's family, a horse, some rabbits, some pigeons, chickens, turtles, 13 cats, and 35 dogs.
