In case you haven't noticed, we love animals here at Wimp, and when different animals show love to each other? That's gotta be my favorite. We've seen quite a number of unlikely animal friendships in the past, like this dog who's best friends with an elephant! There's just something about different species being buddies that's just so cute and heartwarming. To get a little deeper, I also love them because they make me think that if these animals from two totally different species can be so good to each other, then maybe there's hope for humanity to put aside our own differences and find peace (which are usually just ideological).
Ok, ok, so maybe that's looking a little too deeply into something that is so enjoyable on the simplest level. Take, for instance, the story of Rebecca Pizzello and her 6-year-old rescue pit bull, Bubba. Rebecca adopted him when he was just three months old, and her roommate at the time was simultaneously fostering a litter of kittens. Maybe it was this early exposure, but Bubba just clicked with the kittens and has apparently been somewhat obsessed with cats ever since.
Six years later, Rebecca and Bubba left their home in Los Angeles, California and moved across the country to New York City. Not long after that, she brought him a very special surprise - a little ginger kitten (also from a shelter) called Rue that Bubba could adopt as his own! Now, the two are virtually inseparable.
This is the story of Bubba, a rescue pit bull who was obsessed with cats, and his newly adopted daughter, Rue.
Bubba's loved cats from an early age, and after six long years of waiting, he finally got one of his own!
According to Rebecca, Bubba likes to "bathe [Rue] like a baby."
They also have a lot of snuggle time every day.
"I always knew he’d love having one of his own," Rebecca explains. "But I wanted to wait until we moved to New York City [from Los Angeles] this year."
Just like Bubba, the kitten was also from a shelter.
The fact that they even have the same gingery fur color is a pretty adorable coincidence.
Bubba watches over Rue all day like a concerned dad.
Snug as two bugs in a rug.
Rebecca had a feeling that Bubba would be psyched when he first saw the kitten. By her accounts, "excited" was an understatement!
Just another dog day afternoon for these two!
Rue thinks that Bubba is her mom, and that seems to suit Bubba just fine!
