It’s just a widely known fact at this point that some people simply shouldn’t own pets. While there are some laws in place regarding this, it’s very often difficult to make a decision as to the line between abuse and neglect and simply a different style of living with animals than you’re accustomed to. Some of it's cultural but some of it’s just blatantly obvious. The story of Sarah, a Great Dane mix, certainly has some bewildering, “Why? Just, why?” moments but thankfully, has the happiest ending possible.
One of the most common tragedies to befall a dog is when their owner passes away. It’s very likely, from what we gather, that Sarah’s owner loved her. But his widow is another story. She never really wanted the dog, and perhaps was keeping her out of some sort of obligation. She failed to take care of the poor pup, and Sarah, chained outside with very little activity, began to suffer from a variety of ailments, including a condition that would have soon left her blind. Thankfully, ignorance actually came to Sarah’s rescue. She was drooling. A lot. According to her rescuers, this was likely due to the stress of her living conditions or the pain of her infections. Her uncaring owner, however, thought she had rabies. She called for help to deal with it, which led to Sarah’s rescue.
It wasn’t long before Sarah was healthy and in the arms of many loving people. And she lapped up every last bit of love she could find. After so long without affection, she’s not going to waste a minute of it now. When you see her in her new forever home, you’ll be smiling just as much as we’re sure Sarah does every day of her new life.
