Scotty McCreery, the season 10 winner of American Idol, is a truly gifted country singer whose talent truly knows no bounds. In this video, he performs a stunning rendition of Garth Brooks' "The Dance" at the Grand Ole Opry. He starts off by explaining how he met Brooks at a show in Las Vegas.
He goes on to say that the song is "a little bit about heartbreak and a little bit about love," before pouring his heart into every single word of the song. Hearing someone else do a cover of a classic song can always be a little weird, but McCreery totally owns it.
His performance was very well-received, with Taste of Country saying "His rendition demonstrates why he has become a country superstar and why his American Idol season 10 win is really a mere footnote in his career at this point."
McCreery first came onto the music scene at the age of 17. He went on to win American Idol and his debut album was the best-selling solo album by a country singer that year. He was also the youngest male and first country artist to appear on the all-genre Billboard Top 200. He also went on to win Album of the Year and Breakthrough Artist Award.
