Many different religious traditions recommend monastic silence as a spiritual practice for various reasons, such as to become more spiritually pure or to approach a deity. Many religions practice vows of silence, including Buddhism, Hinduism, and Christianity. However, vows of silence may also be found outside of religious use. For example, people may take a vow of silence to make a statement. In this skit, some high school students dress up to appear as monks that have taken a vow of silence to pull off a delightful performance.
