One Man's Trash Is Another Man's ... Art?
To say this art is unique is certainly an understatement. The technique used, called anamorphosis, has a long history in the art world.
Anamorphosis refers to a distorted object that requires a specific perspective or device to view the intended image. The first known piece of anamorphic art is Leonardo da Vinci's "Leonardo's Eye," created in 1485. The simple drawing looks like scribbles head-on, but reveals an eye when viewed from the side.
In more contemporary art, the technique has also been used by a variety of artists from all over the world. Bernard Pras, the artist responsible for the piece in the video, has created similar works of art that reveal faces of royalty, celebrities, scholars, politicians, and more.
