It used to be quite common for multiple generations to live under one roof. In fact, in many parts of the world, it’s still a part of life for most people. At some point along the way, it became common in America and some similar countries that children should “leave the nest,” so to speak, and learn to live on their own. Whether this is the better way or not is a matter of debate, but what isn’t so subjective is that adult children are increasingly finding themselves moving back in with their parents these days. There’s been a significant rise in it, especially due to the tougher economy these young adults have found as they leave college. It’s important to remember though, this isn’t new, and there are all sorts of reasons to want to move back home.
