Others reach sizes shocking to those who are only familiar with common tree squirrels. The Indian giant squirrel is three feet long. Northern flying squirrels and southern flying squirrels are the only two native flying squirrel species found in North America. Squirrels are omnivores. Squirrels eat a variety of foods including nuts, fungi, fruit, roots, seeds, and other plants. If you're not careful, they might even try to eat your GoPro camera.
