Students Rally To Give A Beloved College Cafeteria Worker A Dream Disney Vacation
Think back to your college days, and you can probably remember at least one member of the regular staff - whether it's security, custodial or cafeteria - who just stood out and was beloved by the entire student body. For the students of Elon University in North Carolina, Kathryn Thompson is one of those people.
Everyone loves Kathryn, who works at the Acorn Coffee Shop on campus and spreads warmth and love to every student she meets. On a slow night, she chatted up two students, Taylor Zisholtz and Lucy Smith-Williams, and learned that Lucy was from Florida. She confessed, with tears welling up, that she'd never been "anywhere but here," and wanted badly to take her family to Disney World someday. The girls knew they had to help her, and in just a few days were able to raise nearly $7,000 so that her and four members of her family could finally take that vacation she'd always dreamed of.
