He Flunked Service Dog School, But Found An Even Better Job
There are certain qualities that make a good service dog. Chasing birds is not one of them. Unfortunately for poor Ricochet, his instinct overtook his obedience training and he was unable to get his doggy diploma and become a service dog. The thing is, though, kind of like someone who doesn't make it through special forces training, unsuccessful service dogs are actually pretty well trained and usually have some extra special skills when it comes down to it.
Ricochet turned out to have more than a special skillset; he practically has a superpower. After further training, this energetic dog learned how to ride the waves and has become a SURFice dog, helped kids with disabilities and illnesses get out for a fun day in the sun. He's one hardworking pooch, but lucky, too. There aren't many people who get to make their living on a surfboard, let alone dogs.
