The art world sure is weird sometimes. People doing strange interpretive performances, dipping themselves in ink and flying at a canvas, even just sitting very still in a gallery. Or, like this guy, just covering himself in paint.

Come on. You smeared paint on your face. We get it.

Look, I'm no connoisseur, but I can tell you literally just dunked your face in a paint bucket.

Oh! Wait a minute. Those are hyperrealistic oil paintings on canvas? Well, this is embarrassing. I take back everything I said.


The painter (and model) is Spanish painter Eloy Morales. Each painting in this series takes about a month to create. In these self-portraits, Morales is exploring his lifelong relationship with paint. You can see his process in the video below.
