Kitchens are often called the heart of the home. Comforting smells and tasty food aside, they tend to be gathering places. Because of this, a little kitchen makeover can give your whole house a boost. Kitchen projects have the reputation of costing a lot in time, money and effort, but this simple DIY definitely doesn't tick any of those boxes.
The key to this upgrade is peel-and-stick vinyl flooring.
Usually, these strips are used to give floors a faux-hardwood upgrade. In this case, however, you'll be using them to upgrade your backsplash.
First, peel the paper off the planks, revealing the sticky side underneath.
No other adhesive is needed to keep them in place, which is part of what makes this project so easy. You'll want to press as hard as you can and hold for a bit to make sure they really stick.
Simply stack them on your backsplash, one after another, layer on top of layer.
If you have something you need to work around, like an outlet or light switch, that's not an issue.
Simply put the piece in its place and mark where the object is located.
The pieces are so thin that plain scissors will work perfectly.
When you're done, this is what you can expect your new backsplash to look like.
Pretty snazzy, huh?
If the plain wood isn't quite your style, there are so many options to personalize this new kitchen addition.
Painting is a great option. Just pick a color that complements the rest of your kitchen ... or throw caution to the wind and pick one that makes a statement!
In the end, your mini-remodel is sure to make you happy and impress guests.
Don't say a word and they'll never know how cheap and easy it was to do!
