These Soldiers Waited In Line For Hours Just To Hug Her. The Reason Why Is So Touching
This lady is truly a hero. While she might not be the one heading off to combat, she's certainly making a difference in the lives of these soldiers. But, who exactly is "the hug lady"? Having served in the Air Force, Elizabeth Laird is a veteran of the Armed Forces. She began this tradition in 2003, and has since committed herself to making soldiers smile no matter what time of the day or night. Because of her dedication and positive behavior, the Fort Hood community decided to do something for her. Just last week, the 1st Cavalry Division recognized Laird at a welcome home ceremony. During the ceremony, she was given the Yellow Rose of Texas, a symbol of friendship.
