A series of bronze sculptures exhibited in public spaces around French Mediterranean city, Marseille, depict realistic human workers. But the sculptures, created by French artist Bruno Catalano, have large parts intentionally missing.
They were commissioned as part of a celebration for the city's position as the 2013 European Capital of Culture. The omissions leave room for the viewer's imagination and give an ethereal, haunting quality to the great bronze pieces.
Ten of the pieces were presented at the port of Marseilles. The rest can be seen on Catalano's website.
