They Kept Their Baby's Gender A Secret, But That Wasn't The Biggest Surprise

I don't think I would be able to keep a secret that big. All the surprised looks were definitely worth it, though. While any baby is cause for joy, twins are really something special.

Twins can be quite a rare occurrence. South and Southeast Asia only report six to nine sets of twins per 1,000 live births, the lowest rate in the world. The Yoruba, a tribe that lives primarily in West Africa, have the highest rate of twins in the world, with about 45-50 twin sets per 1,000 live births.

The United States has seen an increase of 76 percent in the rate of twins since 1980. While the incidence of twins sometimes has a genetic component, the rise in the number of twins being born is often linked to fertility treatments.
