They've Been Best Friends For Almost A Decade, But They've Never Actually Met ... Until Now

Isn't technology fantastic? These girls never would have found all of the support they've given each other if it weren't for something like Skype.

Skype was founded in 2003 by two Scandinavian tech entrepreneurs. Initially, they called their telecommunications software "Sky peer-to-peer," which was eventually shortened to "Skype." The application has since been made available on many platforms, including mobile phone, TV and the PlayStation.

With this increased accessibility, Skype has also increased its market share percentage, particularly in the arena of international calls. In 2005, a mere 2.9 percent of international calls were made over Skype - and, a decade later, it's up to 40 percent.
