This 94-Year-Old Bought 5 Seconds Of TV Ad Time To Deliver A Powerful Message
94-year-old Shirley Batchelder of Franklin, Tennessee has certainly lived a full life. She spent 57 years married to a man she describes as "handsome as can be," mothered three children and today enjoys a passel of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. However, in addition to having a blessed personal life, Shirley witnessed the inception of awesome and powerful technologies over the past century. When she was born in 1921, cars were still a luxury item, and only the most privileged families had indoor plumbing. Telephones were still new and something to be marveled at, and mass communication existed only by way of print media. All in all, it was a very different world. Yet, through all the inventions Shirley saw rise and fall, the television remained a favorite. From the grainy black and white ads of the past to modern-day advertising, she's seen it all, and always hoped to design and run her own ad. Finally, Shirley took the plunge, and bought 5 seconds of TV air time. It might not sound like much, but it's all she needed to send an unforgettable message.
