This Baby Was Born Missing A Hand, But A Group Of High Schoolers Had An Unlikely Solution

Kaedon was born with an unexpected condition, and these students have really changed his life forever. This group of high schoolers deserves a standing ovation. Amniotic Band Syndrome, the disorder that caused Kaedon to be born without his right hand, happens when a baby becomes entangled in their umbilical cord while still in utero. The constriction of the cord causes restricted blood flow to the limbs. If this constriction is tight enough, a limb can be amputated. It can also cause cleft lip and palate and clubfeet. ABS has no genetic or environmental cause, so it can not be predicted. On a positive note, having one pregnancy with ABS does not mean that any future pregnancies have an increased likelihood for the syndrome.
