This Baby Was Stuck In A Bed That Was Too High, But He Pulls A Brilliant Escape

Eleanor J. Gibson taught us a lot about babies. A pioneer in the field of perception, the psychologist's most well-known work was the "visual cliff" experiment in 1959. A raised platform was built, with one half being obviously solid and the other half being a clear window to the floor below. Babies, unable to perceive the glass, saw only a very steep (for a baby) "cliff." On the other side, their mothers beckoned. Not one baby crossed onto the clear platform. This small discovery had major implications for sensory-motor development researchers, who until then could only guess at whether babies learned how to perceive their environment from their parents, or were born with the ability. Well, Francisco Aguilar's young son isn't about to let any cliffs get in his way. If he were in that same experiment, we're pretty sure he would done some Tom Cruise-style action moves to get across.
