This Man Traveled Thousands Of Miles On Foot. By The End Of His Journey, He's Unrecognizable

The Longest Way

Travel writer Christoph Rehage has always been a boy on the go. Born in Hannover, Germany, he spent time in Kansas, Paris and Beijing.

Then, on the morning of his 26th birthday, while studying Chinese in Beijing, he was feeling a little homesick and decided to make a trip to Germany. But rather than book a train or a flight, Chris took his lifelong love for adventure and set off on foot.

After a year on the road, Chris made it almost to the border of Kazakhstan.

He took selfies each day as he walked 2,796 miles in the following year.

In his video, he mentions, "All of the distance from Beijing to Ürümqi was completed solely on foot, straight good old walking. There are instances where you can see me in the video sitting on a plane or riding a boat, but those are during breaks I had to take from walking, either to sort out bureaucracy issues or to take care of some personal things."

From his journey, Chris wrote two books: "The Longest Way" and “China zu Fuß” (both in German).
