Merry Coor is a glass artist who makes incredibly beautiful glass pendant jewelry. The small blue spheres look like tiny little worlds suspended from a delicate silver or gold chain. But beyond just their beauty, Coor's pendants contain something meaningful.
The pendants are created using a little bit of the ashes of a loved one sent in by the wearer.
She begins by making a round bead and then spirals the cremated remains lovingly into the bead. She then surrounds the bead with clear glass.
The buyer can even send in the deceased's favorite music so it can play while she works, infusing the bead and the ritual with a highly personal, positive energy.
"When I go into my studio to make a bead, I am centered and my thoughts are clear," she says, "I am in a good mood. I put only my best energy into each bead. If I am sick or having a bad day, I don’t make beads. I only want good energy, love, and good thoughts incorporated into each bead I make."
