To take a look at Alila Purnama, you'd guess the on-deck entertainment might be sword fights and watching someone walk the plank.
But as this 46-meter teak and rattan dreamboat’s travels are for landlubbers, with a romantic view of the Indian Ocean and on-deck mojitos by candlelight.
Alila Purnama translates to "full-moon" and is built in the style of the Bugis pirates of Indonesia. It was built by a wealthy couple who intended to sail the seas for a two-year voyage, but after batten down the hatches a few times on their own, they signed the great ship over to the Alila Hotel group.
After visitors tour the Komodo island, home to the famous Komodo Dragon, and snorkel the surrounding waters, the Alila Purnama is ready with a crew of 16 prepped with icy washcloths and cocktails.
There are 5 suites aboard Purnama including the "captain's lair" master suite with an 180° view of the Indian Ocean.
