Ahh, Netflix. It's gotta be one of my favorite parts of modern life. Other than deciding what to actually watch, the next hardest thing about a good ol' fashioned Netflix binge is finding the perfect position to recline in for hours and hours. If your TV isn't in your bedroom, then you have a choice: awkward reclining on the couch, or lying comfortably in bed but watching on a tiny laptop screen.
Now, you don't have to choose! There's a smart lightbulb called Beam which will make that dilemma a thing of the past.
The LED-powered bulb is slightly bigger than an average Solo cup, screws into any standard light socket, and connects to your smart devices via Bluetooth and WiFi. When propped on its side, it works as a projector able to cast an 854x480p screen onto your wall. It's also got a special long-armed stand that allows you to maneuver it in any direction you like.
With a price tag of $560, the Beam bulb certainly isn't cheap, but it can do a lot more than just help you watch Netflix in bed. It features 8GB of built-in storage and supports AirPlay and Miracast, so you have a lot of ways to broadcast content from your smart devices.
You could screw a Beam into the light socket above a kitchen counter in order to follow along with your favorite recipes, or use it as a wall-sized alarm clock to prominently display weather forecasts and news headlines when you wake up. Best of all, it doesn't need to be hooked up to external speakers since it's got one built-in. Finally, the Beam also works as a traditional, dimmable light bulb.
