In 2011, the Smurf movie and the world's first Smurf theme park collided in the Andalusian village of Júzcar. And they did what Gargamel-fearing village would do: they painted the whole town blue.
Júzcar became the bluest village in the world and, of course, the Smurf capital.
Over 200,000 tourists have paid homage to the Smurf village. Their tourism funds have allowed Júzcar £37 million to design and build "Smurf Land" for Spanish tourism.
Tourism officials estimate that the Smurf utopia will bring in approximately £11 million to the area. The area will be much like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
