Use Just 2 Simple Ingredients To Make A Cheap And Effective Pet Stain Remover

Pets ... can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em! Every pet owner knows the feeling of opening the door and finding a pet-induced disaster waiting for you! In all seriousness, we all love our animal companions, but there are definite downsides to sharing a house with them. Maybe your cat likes to use your furniture as a scratching post or maybe, like DeeDee, your pup has made staining the carpet his personal life mission. If that's the case, you could run to the store and buy all the expensive pet stain and odor removers.

DeeDee decided to go the DIY route and found an incredibly simple and cheap solution that will get rid of even the most stubborn stains.

Although she was vigilant about checking problem areas, her pup would still be able to sneak in a quick accident from time to time.

Here's the troublemaker himself, Trevor.

Sweet Trevor has lived for a whopping 16 years and recently started having accidents in the house, which is a bummer for both Trevor and DeeDee's beige carpet.

So what to do about those set-in stains? DeeDee came up with a two-ingredient solution.

She grabbed hydrogen peroxide and Dawn dish soap, specifically the blue one, both of which are easy to find and cheap.

Next, she mixed the two liquids together, using equal parts of each.

You can use whatever container you like, but DeeDee chose an oblong dish like this one specifically to accommodate the size of her scrub brush.

Once the solution was thoroughly mixed together, she dipped her brush in and got to work!

A stiff-bristled brush works best for this task. DeeDee used the brush to rub the stained areas, making sure to completely saturate the carpet.

After applying the solution, let it sit for about 30 minutes before blotting it with paper towels to soak up any remaining moisture.

Next, give the area a good once-over with a vacuum, and you're done! Who would have expected just two ingredients to make such a difference?
