Back in May of 2017, the entire music world was devasted to learn about the death of singer Chris Cornell. It wasn't long before the tributes to the late Soundgarden singer started pouring in, and among them was his close, longtime friend Chester Bennington.
Bennington, who was himself the singer of multi-platinum selling rock band Linkin Park, and Cornell had been friends for many years. Recently, the music world was again shocked to learn that Bennington followed his friend into the darkness and also committed suicide.
News reports indicate that Bennington was found hanging in a private residence in the early hours of the morning. His body was found on what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday. Weeks before taking his own life, Bennington paid tribute to Cornell with a haunting rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" at Cornell's funeral. He also remembered his friend in an emotional social media post.
Bennington was 41 years old and is survived by his wife and six children.
