A Mom's Message To Other Parents About Whooping Cough

This is a 4-month-old baby suffering from pertussis, or whooping cough. He's only 23 days into a disease that can last nearly 100, but think about it. This baby is only 120 days old. By the time he's well again he'll have spent half his life in painful coughing fits, some of which have been so bad he's turned blue.

His mother, Rebecca Harreman, put this video online to drive home the importance of proper prevention and care for expectant mothers, as well as everyone else who can unwittingly spread potentially deadly diseases with a simple cough or sneeze. Everyone can do their part by covering their mouths when coughing, making sure to wash hands regularly, and avoiding at-risk groups like babies and the elderly when under the weather. Pregnant mothers should consult their doctors on a course of action to try and prevent diseases like pertussis from ever becoming an issue in the first place.

We here are hoping for a speedy recovery for the young trouper.
