Kimberly Fugate went into labor just shy of her 42nd birthday, just 28 weeks into her pregnancy. She didn't even know she was pregnant until she was 13 weeks along. As if those facts weren't already pretty shocking, the news that she was expecting triplets was the icing on the cake to a pregnancy that was just chock full of surprises. But still, it wasn't enough and her babies decided to give mom one last surprise on the way out. Read on ...
In 2013, Kimberly Fugate became pregnant at the age of 41. She already had a 10-year-old daughter, Katelyn. A pregnancy at that age is fairly uncommon. Having triplets at that age is even more uncommon, and the fact that her and her husband Craig conceived without IVF is practically unheard of!
Shortly before her 42nd birthday, she went into labor and delivered three identical girls, but doctors said she wasn't done yet ...
Doctors told her they saw more feet, and the understandably exhausted Kimberly could only say "No!" in shock. Turns out, she was having quadruplets!
The four baby girls are identical (and adorable!). Their names, in birth order, are Kenleigh Rosa, Kristen Sue, Kayleigh Pearl and Kelsey Roxanne.
The doctor, James Bofill, was pretty baffled. When he first heard the news he thought it was a joke! The odds of conceiving spontaneous quadruplets is about 1 in 729,000. The odds of those quads being identical is an even more staggering 13 million to one.
Despite the surprise, Kimberly is absolutely loving being a mom again. She says they were the biggest surprise of her life but now, she couldn't imagine life without them.
