Now that Shark Week has come and gone, there are still some interesting and amazing sea creature videos going viral.
Take this one. A guy out kayaking with friends, enjoying the sun and sea, when a seal has other things in mind. He slapped that kayaker in the face with…wait for it…an octopus!

Kyle Mulinder was off the coast of Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island when the calm seas got a little rough.
He told Yahoo7 News, ““We were just sitting out in the middle of the ocean and then this huge male seal appeared with an octopus and he was thrashing him about for ages.”
Apparently, it was feeding time for the seal or maybe he was protecting Mulinder and his friends. Seals tend to be cool like that.
“He thrashed it in mid fight and my face happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.” he recalled.
Agreed. You can’t stop the sea from handling its business. The impact caused Mulinder to wonder what the heck happened?
“I was like ‘mate, what just happened?’ It was weird because it happened so fast but I could feel all the hard parts of the octopus on my face like ‘dum dum dum’.”
Yikes! At least that was the worst of it.
As you can see in the video, all was well after the initial shock. Mulinder was part of a group from GoPro in which they were testing out their newest model, Hero7.
Who knew they would capture a National Geographic moment!
