MJ the dog gave birth to her puppies in the worst of conditions. But thanks to a crew of generous strip club employees, she and her pups are doing just fine.

MJ gave birth to nine puppies in late December. It was growing cold outside, and her owner’s house in Niceville, FL had been ruined by Hurricane Michael months earlier. If you don’t recall, Hurricane Michael was the worst storm to ever hit the Florida Panhandle.

So, MJ’s owner decided to call Niceville Animal Clinic for help.

“This lady called, she had lost her house and everything and she was living in a tent,” Jennifer Fortune, the owner of Niceville Animal Clinic, told The Columbus Dispatch.

“One of my staff members said, ‘She’s just had nine puppies, the lady wants the dog back, but she’s not equipped to handle even herself, much less a dog with nine new puppies.’”

Jennifer agreed to take MJ and the nine puppies for free. She kept them safe and warm, and she also vaccinated and de-wormed them.

But before MJ could go back home to her owner, Jennifer wanted to spay her to prevent the same situation from happening again.

Another employee of the animal clinic, Chelsey Griffith, had a brilliant idea. She used to bartend at a strip club in Louisiana, so she called a friend who still works there. Before long, the employees had gathered $300 for MJ’s spaying surgery.

“Her girls in Shreveport decided this was something they wanted to do because they’ve been through trauma too,” Jennifer explained. The women experienced Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

“This became an avenue for them to do something positive, so they are going to contribute to the spay cost and then we are going to send her (MJ) home to her mom and then find homes for all the puppies.”

Most of the puppies have been adopted already, too. It’s a heartwarming ending to a sad story.
