It was all the way back in 1928 that Ann Turner Cook was named the first Gerber baby, becoming the face of the company in its advertising. Cook was only 4 months old when artist Dorothy Hope Smith submitted a charcoal drawing of her to the company, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The current Gerber baby, Lucas Warren, beat out 140,000 other kiddos and is the first baby with Down syndrome to occupy the famous role.

Cook and Warren, separated by 90 years but forever bonded due to their iconic positions, were able to meet –and the photo speaks for itself.

Warren’s family was on vacation, and they took the time to meet with Cook, the OG Gerber baby. The baby’s parents said of the meeting, “Lucas walked right up to her, flashing his signature smile and waving, and we could tell he loved her right away. He even grabbed two cookies and offered her one, which she accepted!”

Gerber’s President and CEO said, “Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber’s longstanding heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby, and this year, Lucas is the perfect fit.”

Here’s a video of Lucas in action!
