A Cleverly Designed Trick Play Helps This Team During A Baseball Game

Jun 20, 2015 By Mary Madsen
These baseball players not only deserve a win, they deserve an Oscar. What a well-executed piece of athletic trickery. When much is at stake, sometimes you have to make risky moves. With passage to the Illinois 2A state finals on the line, the Peru St. Bede pitcher Jarrett Olson decided to try a trick play. He and his teammates pulled it off, but unfortunately the opposing team, Rockford Christian Royal Lions, still managed to win the game.

Olson and his fellow players shouldn't feel too badly, though. The Rockford Christian Royal Lions went on to win the finals, snagging the title of best in the state. Their 6-2 win over Williamsville in the finals even made history. The Royal Lions are the first Rockford team to ever be crowned as state champions.
