According to the filmmaker, James, this particular tanker actually visits Galway twice a week so it's not exactly a unique occurrence, but still definitely one that bears documentation given how challenging it is. All in all, the process takes about 20 minutes or so to complete and you can see how fast the cars in the background are zipping by to get a sense of the time and concentration it takes to make something like this happen.
Trying to steer a 5,000 ton tanker like the Galway Fisher is never an easy job, but this video shows that trying to take said tanker into the Port of Galway is enough to send many a captain's blood pressure soaring sky-high. A recently posted video to the Autonomous Aerials Ireland channel on YouTube shows the level of skill required by captains if they wish to moor their ships at Galway.
