A Lifeguard On Watch At A Public Pool
Jun 21, 2015
If you see someone drowning, the first step is to notify the lifeguard. If there isn't one, it's time for you or someone else to call 911. Sometimes, neither of these things are possible. If that's the case, try to remove the person from the water and check for breathing. Check the person's pulse for ten seconds, too, especially if they're not breathing. In the case of no pulse, CPR should be started immediately. Check your local Red Cross and hospitals for CPR classes; you might save a life.
Summertime means lots of fun, which, for many, includes spending sunny days at the pool or beach. There's no denying that the cool water is a highlight to be enjoyed, but it also means being careful in the water and looking out for others.
