A Terminally Ill Vietnam Vet Gets His Dying Wish To Visit Pearl Harbor

Mar 29, 2015
Vietnam veteran Joseph Hooker has dreamed of visiting Pearl Harbor since first passing through on his way home from the war. He enlisted into the U. S. Marine Corps at age 17 and served until 1971. Since that brief moment in Hawaii, Hooker has vowed to return to Pearl Harbor to honor those who lost their lives in 1941. And 43 years later, facing terminal cancer and heart disease, Hooker is able to hold true to that promise.

The Dream Foundation is a national dream-granting organization for those suffering life-threatening illness. With their new subprogram, Dreams for Veterans, the foundation was able to grant Hooker's dying wish.
