Mining is not an easy task, as it requires special hardware, software, a lot of time and patience. Often, miners join small mining groups in order to increase productivity. The idea of bitcoins is to provide a completely non-centralized form of currency to people, with the entire system being fueled by a network of miners. Miners are the people responsible for creating bitcoins and putting more into circulation.
