Basketball Players Leave Court Mid-Game To Defend A Cheerleader Targeted By Bullies

Mar 16, 2015
Everyone knows that teenagers can be cruel to each other, and often feel pressured to be that way because it's "cool" not to care. That's exactly why this news story about a group of middle school basketball players standing up for a bullied cheerleader is especially heartwarming.

Although she has Down Syndrome, Desiree Andrews hasn't let anything stand in her way. She's a valued member of Lincoln Middle School's cheer squad, and the boys on the basketball team had no qualms about walking off the court when the opposing team made snide remarks about her.

It's important to remember that everyone is different in some way. That's no reason to count them out or belittle them, and these boys have an attitude their whole town can be proud of.
