Freeline Skating Is The Crazy New Sport You Haven't Heard Of Yet

Apr 19, 2015
Freeline skating is a new type of extreme sport that combines elements of surfing, skateboarding and inline rollerskating. Developed in San Francisco in 2003 by inventor Ryan Farrelly, this new take on skating has been gaining a lot of popularity throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in China and Japan.

Freeline skates are essentially two tiny skateboards (one for each foot), with two wheels - aligned like inline rollerblades - on a specially designed truck. Take the difficulty of keeping your balance on rollerblades, add the challenge of nothing strapping your feet to the wheels, and you start to understand just why the skilled riders in this video are so incredible.
